Review WSA Grand Jury 2009 in India:
April 2 - 8, 2009
New Delhi, India

34 International experts evaluated about 600 new media projects from 157 countries during one week of intense discussion at the WSA 09 Grand Jury Meeting, held from April 2 through April 8, 2009, in Delhi by generous invitation of the Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of India of the Government of India. The event brought together experienced as well as young entrepreneurs in the field of multimedia, designers and scientists, project managers and heads of NGOs.

In a spirit of respect and understanding for the other person’s cultural background, experts shared insights into what’s happening in the country they represented from an e-Content perspective. And while discussing and evaluating the submitted projects, the only thing that mattered was quality and creativity - and not financial power of country of origin. Review WSA Grand Jury 2005 in Bahrain:
September 3-1009, 2005
Bahrain

The WSA Grand Jury Meeting, which took place from Sept. 3 through Sept. 10, 2005, is definitely one of the most crucial events of the entire World Summit Award process. The act of bringing together 35 renowned experts from all over the world and making them work and live together for more than 10 days creates a special atmosphere of unique intensity and suspense. It is a great and unforgettable – and not always easy - experience for everybody who has ever been to such an event. The 35 international experts evaluated 753 new media products from 168 countries to find the best 40 from around the world. The judging took place in the Kingdom of Bahrain and is part of the World Summit Award (WSA) and the preparation for the United Nations World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), taking place this November 2005 in Tunis.

The producers and designers of the 40 products selected by the WSA Grand Jury will get onto the global stage and receive unprecedented international recognition at the WSA Gala on Nov. 16, when most Heads of State or Governments of the UN will have their get-together with business executives and civil society to discuss the development of the Information Society. Review WSA Grand Jury 2003 in Dubai:
October 17 - 22, 2003
Dubai, UAE

Dubai, Oct. 17 through Oct. 22, 2003, the high-tech city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), was the epicentre of the emerging global Information Society. The World Summit Award (WSA) Grand Jury came together to evaluate the best products in multimedia and e-Content from 136 countries.

It was a huge challenge and the outreach was overwhelming, nonetheless, 36 experts in multimedia and ICT undertook the task of selecting the most creative and innovative contents in the eight categories of the WSA: e-Learning, e-Culture, e-Science, e-Government, e-Health, e-Business, e-Entertainment and the special WSA category, e-Inclusion. The WSA Jury selected 40 outstanding projects from over 800 entries to be honoured in a spectacular showcase event at the United Nations’ World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) in Geneva, Dec. 10, 2003.

The Jury selection exemplifies the quality of today’s multimedia market world wide and offers a comprehensive overview on best practice in e-Content and creativity. A special emphasis in the product evaluation was put on projects which show the benefits of information and communication technology for the development of communities and help to bridge the growing content gap between developed and developing countries.
