Winners’ Celebrations and Gala

The WSA Winners' Celebrations and the Gala bring WSA winners together with international leaders and innovators, creators and designers, entrepreneurs and activists in the international e-Content and ICT industries. The Gala attracts high-level guests from all over the world, including Heads of State and government representatives, executives from UN agencies and private sector leaders who personally hand over the award trophies to the winners of the Global e-Content contest.

2011/2012 - Cairo, Egypt

The 40 World Summit Award (WSA) Winners 2011 were selected from 470 applications worldwide. They will be honoured and will present what is best in e-Content and innovative ICT Applictaions in Cairo, Egypt, in February 2012. News on the event will be announced here. 2009 - Monterrey, Mexico

The World Summit Award Winners’ Gala was celebrated in Monterrey, Mexico, on September 2, 2009 in collaboration with the UN GAID’s Global Forum. In Monterrey, the winners were able to presented their award-winning products at the two day WSA Winners Conference and Exhibition.

2007 - Venice, Italy

The World Summit Award Gala in Venice celebrated the winners on November 5, 2007 at the annual conference on the Global Forum on Shaping the Future (November 5th-7th) at Fondazione Giorgio Cini in Venice, Italy.

2005 - Tunis, Tunisia

The World Summit Award Gala was held in Tunis on November 16, 2005. It was the highlight of the UN World Summit on Information Society (WSIS). 500 high-level guests – among them UNESCO Director-General Ko?chiro Matsuura (in the picture) and UNIDO Director-General Kandeh Yumkella attended the World Summit Award Gala.

2003 - Geneva, Switzerland

The United Nations decided to call for a World Summit for the Information Society (WSIS) in 2003 in Geneva and 2005 in Tunis. It was a milestone in international cooperation for the development of the Information Society. Whithin this summit the World Summit Award Gala took place for the first time.

The World Summit Award is a flagship initiative of the United Nations and its Department of Economic and Social Affairs and its Global Alliance for ICT and Development (GAID).
